Our Proposal Story

This whole story starts out the week before we actually got engaged. Brenton being the wonderful guy that he is had left an envelope in my car Monday morning of that week. The first envelope contained a letter with a scripture verse. The same happened for the next few days until Friday finally came.
On Friday morning, I walked out to my car to find beautiful tulips, some chocolate, and yet another letter. By, this point I was thinking that something was up but I still wasn't sure. He had been driving me crazy for the past few weeks by telling me that we had plans on Valentine's Day but not giving me any hint as to what they were.
6pm finally arrived on Friday the 14th of February and I couldn't have been more anxious. When I get into the car, I asked where we were going and all I got was that we were going out to dinner. I was pretty confused because when I was asking him about details he said we would probably be back really late. If we were just going out to dinner then I didn't understand how we could be back later than 8:30.
We arrived at the restaurant and had a delicious meal. (As a side note, if anyone is looking for a very nice and delicious restaurant in the Oklahoma City area, you should totally check out Vito's Italian Ristorante.) The entire time through dinner I was trying to read him and figure out if he was displaying any of the signs he was about to propose that I had googled.
Upoon finishing dinner, we went back to the car and I asked what we were doing next. He didn't give up the answer too easily but eventually he told me that we were headed to Lake Hefner. (In my mind, this was a red flag because google said that if he suggests a walk he is probably going to propose.) We got to Lake Hefner and bundled up because it had gotten pretty chilly outside. We started to walk around the dimly lit pathways and he began to ask me questions about what I thought about the letters and scripture verses he had been leaving me. While we were walking and talking we noticed the lighthouse was decorated for Valentine's Day and started to walk down towards it. I thought that this might be it and that it might really be happening.
He started asking me if I really liked the letters and when I told them that I loved them he asked me if I wanted another one. At this point, my heart was going a mile a minute and I seriously thought I was about to read the words "Will you marry me?" on the paper in this envelope. I opened the letter and read through it and looked up expecting him to be on one knee but he just smiled at me and asked if I wanted to keep walking.
We got back onto the path and headed the other direction. and at this point I was starting to think that it wasn't going to happen. We got to pretty deserted part of the path and he decided to stop there. He started asked me if I wanted to choose to love him every day and I kind of knew where this was going at this point. He told me that I was his best friend and that he couldn't see the rest of his life without me (I'm paraphrasing all of the wonderful words he said on the actual night.) And then he asked if I knew what he was going to ask to which I said "No." because I still wasn't completely sure. He then got down on one knee, pulled out a beautiful ring, and asked me if I would marry him.
And I said "YES!"
